Wooden man

My dad was a shopfitter/joiner when he was working, now he has retired he gets very bored very quickly.
So he disappears up into my parents loft in the house and makes things.  He has always been a very crafty man, his drawings are brilliant and what he makes I just love.  He is 74 now and he still can't stand still, unless of course he is sleeping. lol

So, it was time for him to disappear, which he did for over a week.  He made my mum a wooden man for her garden and he also made me one.  My mum brought it up to my house last night and I just fell in love with this little wooden man who is now sitting proudly on my decking.

My mum has already named her little man, calling him Wilbur.  I have still to come up with a name for mine, so if anyone has any ideas or good names I would love to hear them.

I am so happy with my wooden man, he really cheers up my decking.

Red Christmas

Good morning everyone, I am doing a very quick post this morning as I have so much stash to clear away.  My living room is starting to look like the corner of a craft shop, my mum is coming over tonight and I really need to try and get some semblance of order.  I will try as long as I don't let crafting take over.

Unfortunately, I have just noticed that I have a 'wonky' bit of pearls right at the top of the bow, so I am going to have to correct this before it is given to anyone.  The bow looks lopsided, as the left side looks shorter than the right, but they are both the same size.  I have tried taking the pictures loads of times and it just keeps coming out the same.

This picture is just to show the micro beads that I put onto the red mirri card that was used.

I used a pearl dazzler to finish off the bow, I never used any embellishments apart from the pearl flourishes and the holly leaves which were die cut.

I hope that you like my 2nd Christmas Card.

I found a New Interesting page

Hi everyone, I have just been trawling the internet, in between making cards and watching the Scotland v England football match.  I am not an avid football fanatic, but I am Scottish so I just had to put it on to see if they were going to score.  As I am typing this, they have scored again, so that is 2 - 1 to Scotland.  What a surprise.  It is now 2 - 2.

While I was popping in and out of pages, I came across a site called CraftGawker, very similar to Pinterest, but with a difference (I think lol).  I am not very good on the internet, and if there is a way to get to something that I like on Pinterest, I don't know how to do it.

On CraftGawker, I have came across quite a few things that I like and when I clicked on the pic it took me to the blog that showed me exactly how to do what I was looking at.

Must admit, I am impressed with all the things that it shows on the site and how to make them, all things crafty, altered art, recycling, upcycling, making clay roses, making ribbon roses etc.  I think you will have got what I mean by now, it was showing allsorts on the site.  So I think this will be a site that I will be visiting regularly.

So why not go and have a look yourself and see what you think, unless you have already discovered this site.

Gold Christmas

This is my very first Christmas card, I have got plenty more to go though.

I used Gold Elements as the die, I cut out two of the triangular dies in the set.
I matted and layered white card and then gold card, I used very small gold flecks that I stuck on to the edges of the card.

The panel that I worked on was embossed with the Cascading Hearts embossing folder by Creative Expressions (chosen by Sue Wilson).  My two die cut panels had two extra panels cut out with gold paper, I then used gold coloured micro beads to give a bit of texture.  I stuck the die cut pieces on top of the gold card.  Once these were dry, I stuck the two pieces onto the main panel, I then put a piece of ribbon round the centre of the card and tied a double bow and stuck that on top of the ribbon.

The only embellishments that I used were the sets of double hearts at the top and bottom, the dazzler in the centre of the bow and my 'Merry Christmas' sentiment.

I do hope that you like my first Christmas card.

Craft Creations

Hi remember the other day that I had told you about getting the "Letter that they loved the most", in a magazine.

Well, I received my prize today and I was so pleased with what I had got.  So I have taken a picture so that you can see my prize.

Loads of goodies to use from 12 x 12 papers, A4 card, Glitter board, various types of cards, peel off stickers, various types of other papers.

So I have no excuse not to do some crafting, as I have loads of papers and cards.

1st day at School

Yesterday all the local children started back school and all the new starts, Primary 1 schoolchildren also started as well.  There were all these tiny children running trying to keep up with their parents and it brought back all the memories of my son starting school.

When Christopher (who is now 24) started school, my mum, dad and I all took him off to his first day.  He was so excited about starting school and he looked just like a little man with his shirt and tie on.  Once I dropped him off, a little tear was shed (I think a bit of dust must have got into my eyes!) and my family and I walked back home.  On my way home, I stopped in the middle of the street and said to my mum, I've forgotten something or lost something.  She asked me what it was and I said, "My son", he is always with me. lol

Everywhere I went he came too, but no more, this was his new adventure and journey and already I was missing him.

Sorry about that, memory over. lol

Anyway, back to my little neighbour, Kayden who stays beside me.  He knocked my door yesterday, just so that I could see him with his uniform on.  I said to him that 'he was too wee to be going to school' and he said back to me, 'I am not wee Jennifer, I am a big boy'.

Once we had went outside to take the photographs of him, he told me that he had got his mum to 'wax' his hair and asked, 'Do you like my Lynx deodorant'. lol
After all the questions were asked and answered, off he went with his mum to start school.  The children were only in from 10am until 12noon, just to give them a little taster of what things would be like.

Here is a picture of Kayden and his mum, Cherrelle.

I do hope that you like my picture of Cherrelle and Kayden, he just looks so happy going to school.  Long may that continue.
