Bit By the Bug Tuesday: "Beach Bug"

It is time for another Bit By the Bug Tuesday. The day where I introduce you all to the newest freebies over at Creative Bug on the Loose. This week we have...

"Beach Bug"

Here is my card ....

All the papers and embellishments came from a magazine that I subscribe to.  I cut out the top of a Big Top tent, a balloon and a 'Have Fun' sentiment.  The yellow 'lace like' border is actually self-adhesive Craft Lace made of paper.  It is very quick and easy to use.  I then used foam letters to put Happy Birthday vertically down the left hand side.

This little bug is having the time of her life making sandcastles and looking forward to having a dip in the ocean soon.

So, what are you waiting for? To take advantage of this sweet image, head on over to Creative Bug on the Loose and follow the instructions on how to bring this cute little guy home with you. While you are over there, don't forget to check out all the great digis Naomi has available in the store for purchase and don't forget to leave her a little love too.

I've caught the bug,
have you?

Carousel

I wanted to bring in my Carousel as I am going to enter it into the All Crafts Challenge, Anything Goes - but a card I made the carousel from a template which all had to be cut out first before I could start on building it up. I started with the base and then the poles that were used for the horses to hold onto were made from straws. The straws had silver paper bound round them and then I did the top of the carousel. Once the top was ready I inserted the straws into the bottom of the base and then into the top of the carousel. I then cut out the horses and attached them to the straws, once everything was in place. The whole of the carousel was made with white and baby blue glitter card. I then started to embellish the carousel with various gems, silver strips, a piece of card all the way round the top of the carousel which was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. This is a very quick explanation of how I made the carousel, as it would take me a long time to explain every single step. I do hope that you like my carousel. Thank you for stopping by.

Wedding Anniversary

Good morning everyone, at last Scotland has sunshine. I can't believe it is actually here, it is so lovely seeing such beautiful weather for a change, I was beginning to forget what it looked like. So I think today is going to be spent sitting out on my decking doing a bit of crafting, it will be so nice to actually sit out in the sun and enjoy a beautiful day. I am also going to enter this card into the Allsorts Challenge - Anything Goes Anyway, I have just completed a Wedding Anniversary card for a friend who asked me to make her one for her friends. I intend to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Flower Power. I am also going to enter this card into the challenge over at The Outlawz Challenges - Paper a la Mode -May 18 - 24: Anything Goes.

I created this card based on a card that I saw over at Card-Making-Magic.com - Acetate Front Card Tutorial I have made another card like this one, but I was pleased with the way this one turned out as I got the acetate properly fitted on this one, so it didn't bend the way the other one did. I started this card with a 20cm x 13.5cm card, which I then embossed using the Craftwell eBossing Folder, once this was done, I then punched the bottom of a card using a Martha Stewart punch. I then created a flower corsage made up with flowers from Wild OrchidCrafts I used Handmade Mulberry Paper Stem Flowers and another flower from my stash (sorry I don't know where I got this one from) It is a hanging flower with many small blooms attached along the stem. They were all initially pink flowers and I coloured them with yellow Promarkers which then turned them a lovely shade of peach. I then used Decorative Pins and Decorative Crown Pins both from Wild Orchard Crafts. I put in a couple of crystal stems - again from Wild Orchid Crafts (which are no longer available). Once the flowers were finished I then put on a pearl swirl coming from the flowers. I then die-cut the words "Congratulations On Your Wedding Anniversary", I sprinkled very fine white glitter over the words and to finish off the main part of the card, I used Liquid Pearls - Silver Pearl round the outside of the card. I then created the main card to put the embellished card onto, before attaching the embellished card to the main card, I attached my acetate to cover the card completely. Before I stuck down the acetate, I attached a piece of ribbon round the bottom of the acetate, sticking it behind the acetate. I then created a ribbon and put a peach net butterfly on top to finish off the ribbon. I decided to make an addition to the card by making a special card box in which to put the card in, as a normal sized envelope wouldn't have worked. So I made this following the instructions over on Card-Making-Magic.com The instructions were very easy to follow and I only made a couple of changes to the card by adding additional card to the sides and the bottom of the box in order to facilitate the size of the acetate. I also put in an oval shape in the centre and covered the outside of the oval with some flowers to make it co-ordinate with the card. It worked out quite well, and you will be able to see that the box follows the same type of pattern as the card.

I do hope that you like my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Acetate Front Card

Good morning everyone, I am sorry that I haven't been around for a while, I have no excuse apart from the fact that I have been trying out different techniques for my cardmaking. I am going to enter this card into The Outlawz - GCC0429, this is the first card that I have entered for quite a while as I haven't been too good. I hope everyone likes it. Jen :-) I have been having a look online and have been spending the majority of my time on Card Making Magic, I just absolutely love this site and the tutorials that are available, here is the first card that I have tried out. It is the Acetate Front card, I know that this is the first time that I have tried this project, but I was quite pleased with the way that it turned out. Items used: A4 embossing folder, circular sentiment "With love", 3 pink roses, 1 diamonte, piece of self adhesive ribbon, 1 ribbon and 1 heart, 1 piece of acetate. I embossed the A4 folder and then cut it to size for the card,. then punched the bottom of the card with a Martha Stewart punch. I then die cut swirls to put on the card, attached the roses and the diamante and the sentiment with foam pads. I then cut out acetate to cover the whole of the card and ensured there was enough acetate to make it a bow shape to cover the roses and not "squash" them. An extra 1.5" was put onto the acetate at either side, I then stuck on the pink ribbon and I then stuck down one side of the acetate using Pinflair Glue and put on bulldog clips to hold it in place, I then glued down the other side using bulldog clips until it all dried. Once everything was dried I then stuck on my pink ribbon and pink heart. I do hope that you like my first trial run of my card.
